Agriculture employs over a billion people and generates food worth USD 1.3 trillion every year (WWF). It has a considerable impact on our world economy, the development of societies, and biodiversity. Simply put, agriculture is one of the most important frontiers for a clean and efficient energy transformation. With the implementation of reliable and affordable energy from renewable sources, we can create sustainable food and industrial crop production.
Agriculture is, in many ways, an electricity intensive process. From lighting, heating and cooling to ventilation, irrigation, grain drying and efficient feed lines. The sector has a great dependence on reliable, controllable, and affordable clean power – at all hours of the day.
Farming often takes place in remote areas which lack access to consistent energy around the clock.
