Strategic Partner

Masen - The beginning of a beautiful friendship

Masen (Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy) is one of the most important stakeholders in Morocco’s overall energy strategy. The company oversees the implementation of a highly ambitious renewable energy program where the goal is to secure 52% of the country’s energy mix from renewable sources by 2030.

In 2018 Masen will take place on Azelio’s board of directors. They add valuable knowledge of the solar market to Azelio’s strategy and they are taking an essential role in the company’s Thermal Energy Storage R&D, industrialisation, verification and business development.

Masen also grants access to a vast network of established partners and stakeholders in the solar industry, as well as to new suppliers for local sourcing and production.

Reference project is in progress

Masen’s R&D Platform for Concentrated Solar Power in Ouarzazate is one of the biggest worldwide. This is where Azelio’s solution will be tested, in optimal solar conditions, verifying the technology before delivering the first commercial projects in 2020.

Better together

Our partners have different starting positions and orientation within the renewable energy field, but they all have a few things in common: Together we build mutual trust through cooperation in development and validation. We seek to create value for each other in various local projects, and we use each other’s competences to create leverage on different markets.

Masdar – the obvious research partner

The Masdar Institute Solar Platform (MISP) is located in the MENA epicentre of solar energy expansion and was the obvious research partner for our Thermal Energy Storage (TES) development. The institute’s strong capabilities in energy storage materials characterization, and the possibilities to demonstrate and validate systems in a harsh desert environment, has been crucial for optimizing the unique TES solution for our new concept.

The Masdar Institute of Science and Technology (MI) was established in 2007 in Abu Dhabi, in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), as an independent non-profit graduate level research university focused on advanced energy and sustainable technology. The Masdar Institute of Science and Technology is now a part of the Khalifa University of Science and Technology.
