Almost all industries, businesses and homes use something mined from the ground. The way metals and minerals are extracted is changing rapidly, in line with increased sustainability demands. At the same time, rising energy consumption costs and growing environmental concerns are pressuring the industry. Charging and discharging at high temperatures without degrading the storage capacity, Azelio’s TES.POD is a solution that is perfectly suited to the high energy consumption and demand for uptime from a sector known for its remote and extreme environments.
While the specific electricity needs of a mine depend on its type, some processes are common to all extraction industries. An electricity intensive process, mining has a great need for reliable, controllable and affordable clean power – at all hours of the day.
Mining often takes place in remote areas.

Short-term projects may need to relocate.

Mining needs to reduce its environmental impact, to obtain a social license for operation.
TES.POD has very low environmental impact and produces affordable electricity with zero CO2 emissions.
A remote mine needs electricity to run a pumping system, leading water to an evaporation pool. The pool is often located far away from the mine itself. Today, diesel generators supply not only the energy needed, but also cause very expensive energy bills. Azelio’s TES.POD, in combination with solar PV, can significantly lower the cost of energy, while also reducing emissions.
Replacing costly and polluting diesel fuels with Azelio’s long-duration renewable energy storage is cost competitive, reliable and sustainable.
Worked example: An Azelio TES.POD cluster of 40 units, in combination with solar PV. Considered 4,730 MWh annual energy baseload demand. Local conditions: GHI: 2,071 kWh/M2/year.
