Azelio has strengthened its global organization with establishments in South Africa and Australia
Azelio's global presence has been strengthened with the hiring of Country Directors in South Africa and Australia. Both markets have ambitious targets and plans for a sustainable energy supply and show great potential for Azelio's long-duration energy storage with an around-the-clock clean electricity and heat supply. A potential that is now strengthened with a local presence.
According to the South African National Development Plan, 18.8 GW of renewable energy will be required by 2030. For this, the South African government plans for a renewable energy mix with 8.4 GW of wind power, 8.4 GW of solar PV, and 1 GW of concentrated solar power (CSP). Azelio's game-changing energy storage with electricity and heat supply on demand at all hours of the day at a very competitive cost, significantly improves the ability to achieve the renewable energy goal in South Africa.
By comparison, Australia will require 26 GW of renewable energy by 2040 to replace the country's current coal-fired power plants, with an estimated 6 – 19 GW of dispatchable generation. Azelio's long-duration energy storage has great potential in the Australian market with its unique ability to store renewable energy and provide competitive and dispatchable baseload electricity and heat in on- and off-grid applications.
