TES.POD long-duration energy storage is designed to supply affordable renewable energy as electricity and heat – on demand, for all hours of the day.
With new streams of energy being introduced, it is important to align production and consumption. With long duration energy storage, we have the technology that provides balance. It can be scaled up economically to sustain electricity provision for multiple hours, days, or even weeks – with the potential to significantly contribute to a decarbonised economy.
Long-duration energy storage complements short-duration storage solutions. The TES.POD can be deployed as a standalone solution with solar PV, or in a hybrid system, together with other renewable technologies such as batteries.
The TES.POD has no degradation in capacity over time, and a lifespan of 30 years. The heart of the system is the 100% recycled aluminium alloy, heated up to 600° C (1110°F) to store from renewable energy such as solar or wind. The solution requires no replacements and has zero downtime during servicing.
Fulfilling flexibility needs beyond solutions such as batteries – which aim to provide power for storage with fast response and short-term use – TES.POD long-duration energy storage is central to delivering flexible and reliable clean energy for longer periods of time.
Use of renewable energy sources will continue to rise, and there is a growing need for 8 to 18 hour flexibility to close the full day cycle. Long-duration energy storage is the component needed to bring control to renewable energy by providing clean electricity when and where it’s needed.
